US Ambassador to Dhaka Mr. James F Moriarty inaugurated the Floating IEC TB Centre in Barisal on January 27, 2009. The Floating IEC TB centre will go around different points of riverine Barisal division and disseminate information about TB and other health issues to the public.

On his arrival at the river jetty, the US Ambassador was received by SMC Managing Director and high officials of USAID and SMC. He was taken around different sections of the launch and was briefed about the activities of the Centre by the Managing Director. The Ambassador later watched a 20 minute movie on TB IEC in the IEC theatre room. He also received a briefing on the sales boat operation and he later made queries regarding its operations.

Director PHN of USAID/Dhaka Ms. Khadijat L. Mojidi also paid a visit to the floating TB IEC Centre on January 28. Managing Director, SMC briefed the Director on the concept of the floating TB IEC Centre and its necessity to Barisal region.
