Social Marketing Company has received the International Star Award for Leadership in Quality (ISLQ) in the Gold Category at the 12th International B.I.D. Quality Convention held in Paris, on April 21, 2008.
SMC Managing Director and Member of the SMC Board of Directors Mr. Muhammed Ali earlier received the award on behalf of the Company from Mr. Jose E. Prieto, Executive President of B.I.D which is a Madrid-based business organisation committed to building better business reputation worldwide. It may be mentioned that the Business Initiative Directions (BID) promotes quality culture in 178 countries including Bangladesh
This International BID Quality Award is awarded to companies on the basis of their commitment to the criteria outlined in the QC100 TQM model. The QC 100TQM serves as a guideline to those business leaders striving for continuous quality improvement to achieve their goals “from Customer Satisfaction Culture to Business Results Awareness” through systems and procedures and set an example for the rest of the business community.
Among the 62 companies world-wide which received the awards in various categories, SMC was the only company from Bangladesh to receive the prestigious award, as SMC was recognised to represent success for Bangladesh in the business world for its commitment to quality.
To mark this international recognition for SMC, a reception dinner was hosted by Mr. Jalaluddin Ahmed, Chairperson of SMC Board of Directors a city hotel on May 07, 2008. It was attended by members of the SMC Board of Directors, high officials from SMC head office, journalists, and local elite. The event was reported widely in the print and electronic media.
