The Pahela Baisakh festival, which heralded the advent of the Bengali New Year - 1416 was celebrated with much festivity at the SMC Head Office on April 15, 2009. A musical soiree was arranged by the Head Office staff on the occasion, and it was held at the Board Room of the Head Office on that day. Artistes from the SMC Head Office rendered traditional Bengali songs in light of the occasion, and the audience joined in with the chorus. The audience was also treated with traditional Bengali sweets that are offered on the first day of the Bengali new Year.

General Manager - Administration, Mr. Sekandar Hayat Khan in his speech also wished all a happy new year, and he discussed about various aspects of Bengali culture in his short address.

Among others, Chief Financial Officer, all Heads of Departments, all Managers, Senior Executives and Executives, and other assorted officials and staff of the Head Office were present on the occasion.
