A Fire Drill was conducted at the SMC Head Office premises on March 24, 2009 in order to test the response of the employees of SMC and to prepare them for such an event. All Head Office officials and other employees participated in the fire drill, which is held twice a year, once in March and the other time in September.

The fire drill was conducted under the overall supervision of the General Manager - Administration, Mr. Sekandar Hayat Khan. An official from the Fire Service and Civil Defence Directorate acted as the resource person for the event, and he delivered a brief lecture on the hazards of fire, and what to do in case of fire. During the drill, the fire hydrants and hose pipes was checked, and other equipment tested.
