Supply Chain Management

SMC supply chain management includes all functions related to ensuring on time delivery and wide availability of its products upto the retail outlet level. It involves procurement of finished products and raw materials from both local and international sources for own manufactured products, warehousing, logistics and supply to the 12 SMC Area Sales offices and finally distribution to retail and wholesale pharmacies, groceries, The supply chain management [SCM] of SMC Enterprise Ltd [SMC EL] collectively works to ensure on time supply against Marketing / Sales demand and wide availability of its products up to the retail outlet level. Currently there are Five different teams working under SCM division, these are 1) Demand Planning and Inventory Management, 2) Procurement - Pharma, 3) Procurement - FMCG, 4) Commercial and 5) Logistics and Distribution. NGOs and other channels.

SCM plays a catalyst role in integrating demand-supply of goods and also in coordinating the activities among sales, marketing, production, outsource / toll partners and suppliers to achieve overall revenue of the company.


SCM involves in procurement of finished products as well as raw/packing materials from both local and international sources for own production and toll manufacturing purposes. It also operates in warehousing (approximately four lacs square feet warehouse in 24 different locations), logistics and supply of goods to the 24 Area Sales offices (12 for FMCG and 12 for Pharma) and finally to the retail and wholesale pharmacies, groceries, NGOs and other channels.

In April 2018 SMC introduced local-level distribution houses around the country to enhance rural and non-pharmacy coverage with household products.
