SMC Participates in America Week 2009 held in Barisal
SMC participated in the sixth America Week organised by the U.S. Mission in Bangladesh from January 26 – 28, 2009 in Barisal. US Ambassador to Dhaka Mr. James F Moriarty was the chief guest at the programme. The American Week showcased the partnership between Bangladesh and the United States through display booths and also by conducting presentations.
The US Ambassador inaugurated the event at a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by an exclusive walk through of all the displays. At the America Week this year, different partners showcased the partnership between Bangladesh and the United States by hosting display booths and also by conducting presentations. He went around different stalls and expressed satisfaction at the services provided by SMC.
The SMC booth showcased the products which are social marketed by SMC. The booth was decorated with different promotional materials and a fact sheet on SMC. To disseminate information an information package was developed with general information on SMC and its Barisal area specific programmes. The information package was distributed amongst the visitors of the America Week. SMC also organized a quiz contest for the visitors. The information package, promotional materials, display of SMC products and the Quiz contest drew a large number of visitors to the SMC booth. A significant number of visitors of the SMC booth sought information regarding family planning, child survival, and HIV/AIDS.
On January 27, an audio-visual presentation on SMC’s programmes, its achievements and its activities was given to an audience of about 125 people in the Lincoln Hall in Barisal. The presentation was delivered by the Managing Director and Mr. Toslim Uddin Khan, Head of Research and MIS of SMC.
