Mobilizing community to improve maternal and child health care

Community mobilization is one of the tools that SMC uses to deliver health messages to the beneficiaries and community influentials. Under Notun Din community mobilization program of MIH funded by USAID, SMC has reached thousands of community elites and influential groups with health messages to enhance their program understanding and gain their support in successful program interventions under Notun Din. Over the last couple of months, SMC has arranged 7 one-day workshops in 7 districts in BRAC intervention areas. They include B, Baria, Feni, Noakhali, Chandpur, Laxmipur, Comilla and Bandarban.

Organized through SMC’s implementation partner BRAC, the workshops were participated by Deputy Commissioner, Civil Surgeon, Deputy Director-Family Planning (DD-FP), District Education Officer, ASPs and other local government officials, journalists, lawyers, head of colleges and schools, imams and other community leaders.

Participants appreciated these initiatives and hoped that such workshops and discussions would be helpful in enhancing coordination and collaboration among government, non-government and private sector initiatives and bringing better results from material child health care interventions at rural level.
