SMC’s General Manager, Program Mr. Toslim Uddin Khan recently participated in the 23rd International Scientific Conference of Obstetrical and Gynecological Society of Bangladesh (OGSB) held during 26-27 September 2014 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Dhaka.

Mr. Khan gave a presentation on ‘Expanding use of Long Acting Methods through OB/GYN in private practice.’ He briefed the audience on SMC’s LARC program and the implementation strategies it has adopted by building a network of OB/GYN and other doctors, ensuring supply of and creating demand for the method and building capacity of doctors through training. He introduced Relax IUD and I-plant/Implant over branded by SMC to the participating OGSB members and opined that providing Relax IUD and I-plant services through OB/GYN would help build positive image and better quality perception that would lead to higher rate of adoptions of the methods.

The program was attended by Prof. Dr. Farhana Dewan, Publication Secretary, OGSB, Prof. Dr. Latifa Shamsuddin, President, OGSB and Mr. Iori Kato, Deputy Representative, UNFPA, Bangladesh.
