Mr. Jalaluddin Ahmed, our respected Director and former Chairman of SMC Board passed away on March 3, 2016 at a Singapore hospital. SMC family deeply mourns his death. Late Mr. Ahmed joined the SMC Board as a Director in 2005 and served as the Chairman from May 30, 2007 to May 3, 2013. He was reelected again as a Director in May 2013 and served the company until his death. In addition to being a former Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh, Mr. Ahmed had served as the President, Board of Trustees of East West University, Advisor to ILO and UNFPA, and was also US Congressional Fellow at Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C. Late Mr. Ahmed left behind his wife, a son, a daughter and a lot of admirers. All members of the SMC family gratefully recall his valuable guidance and contribution to the company.
