Social Marketing Company (SMC) observed World Contraception Day (WCD) 2026 through a series of awareness, communication and engagement activities, reaffirming its commitment to promoting informed choice, family planning and access to quality reproductive health information, products and services.
Observed on 26 September, World Contraception Day 2026 carried the theme “No Barriers, Just Choices”, highlighting the importance of removing barriers to contraceptive access and enabling individuals and couples to make informed reproductive health choices.
As part of the observance, a special television talk show featuring Mr. Toslim Uddin Khan, Managing Director & CEO, SMC, and Mr. Sayef Uddin Nasir, Managing Director, SMC Enterprise Ltd. (SMC EL) was aired on Desh TV on 26 September 2026 at 6:00 PM.
The discussion focused on contraception, informed choice and family planning, while highlighting SMC's longstanding contribution to expanding access to reproductive health information, contraceptive products and services across Bangladesh.
SMC also organized an in-house WCD 2026 celebration on 27 September 2026 afternoon at the 18th Floor Training Room of SMC Tower, Dhaka. The program brought together SMC colleagues to mark the occasion and reinforce the organization's shared commitment to advancing awareness of contraception and family planning.
The WCD 2026 observance also received national media attention through SMC leadership's engagement in the public dialogue on contraception and family planning.
On 26 September 2026, Prothom Alo published a special interview with Mr. Toslim Uddin Khan, MD & CEO, SMC, titled “নকল ও নিম্নমানের জন্মনিরোধক সামগ্রী ঝুঁকি বাড়াচ্ছে” (Fake and Low-Quality Contraceptive Products Are Increasing Risks). The interview discussed Bangladesh's family planning journey, SMC's contribution since 1975, contraceptive access and concerns regarding counterfeit and low-quality contraceptive products. On the same day, Samakal published an article authored by Mr. Toslim Uddin Khan, titled “জন্মনিয়ন্ত্রণে দরকার তরুণ প্রজন্মের সচেতনতা” (Awareness Among the Young Generation Is Needed for Birth Control).
