Highlighted SMC in WPD-2018
The World Population Day-2018 was observed across the country on July 11, 2018 under the leadership of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The main event of the day took place at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka where the Honorable Speaker of the National Parliament, Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, MP was present as the chief guest. SMC had a stall at the event venue where it showcased its public health products and programs. Hon’ble Speaker visited the SMC stall along with the State Minister, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and other dignitaries. She applauded SMC for its outstanding contribution to the national family planning program including health and nutrition. Alongside, SMC also participated in the day’s events in 13 low-performing MISHD intervention districts together with the government and NGOs/INGOs.
To commemorate the significance of the day, a TV talk-show was jointly organized by SMC and Shornokishoree Network Foundation which was aired on Channel-i on 11th July highlighting the nexus between family planning and human rights. The talk-show was participated by the Hon’ble State Minister for Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Mr. Zahid Maleque, MP along with high-level policy makers and population experts.
