Meeting with Obstetricians and Gynecologists

SMC continues its effort to engage Obstetricians and Gynecologists (OBGYNs) to offer Long-acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARC) under the Pink Star Network. Experience sharing and performance review meeting with these providers was held in Rangpur on September 19, 2022. A total of 35 OBGYNs attended the event. The meeting reviewed LARC performances, shared best practices and discussed the way forward to improve the performance of the OBGYNs in future. Top performers were recognized in the meeting and they shared their views in the panel discussion. Among others, Mr. Dewan Morshed Kamal, Director, Family Planning, Rangpur Division and Dr. Shamim Ahmed, Civil Surgeon, Rangpur District joined the event. Professor Dr. Kamrun
Nahar, President, Professor Dr. Shahi Farzana Tasmin, General Secretary, and Professor Dr. Azizul Islam, Past President of the Obstetrical and Gynecological Society of Bangladesh (OGSB), Rangpur Branch were present in the event. OGSB leaders highlighted the benefits of Multiple Micronutrient Supplement (MMS) and how it can be helpful for reducing maternal mortality and low-birth weight baby. They also encouraged the gynecologists to offer MMS for pregnant women. Dr. Salah Uddin Ahmed, Additional GM, Training and Service Delivery, SMC attended the meeting and spoke on the occasion.
