Participation in the 1st International Scientific Conference of Gestosis and OGSB
SMC actively participated in the 1st international scientific conference organized by the Bangladesh Chapter of the renowned international organization World Gestosis and Obstetrical and Gynecological Society of Bangladesh (OGSB). The conference took place on May 20, 2023 at BICC, Dhaka. The primary objective of this conference was to address the various complications that arise during pregnancy, such as diabetes, postpartum hemorrhage, thyroid disorders, maternal malnutrition, perinatal mental health problems, growth-retarded fetus, prematurity, and others. These complications can be effectively treated or prevented through standardized approaches.
During the conference, Mr. Toslim Uddin Khan, MD & CEO of SMC, presented a scientific paper focusing on Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS). He discussed the significant role of MMS in enhancing maternal nutrition and reducing the prevalence of low birth weight babies. Distinguished individuals were present at the event included Professor Dr. Farhana Dewan, President-Elect of OGSB, Professor Dr. Sameena Chowdhury, Immediate Past President of OGSB and Professor Dr. Rowshan Ara Begum, former President of OGSB. They actively participated in the MMS discussions and delivered enlightening speeches to support in prescribing MMS instead of iron and folic acid considering benefit of mother and babies.
