World Breastfeeding Week 2023
Breastfeeding is one of the most effective ways to ensure child health and survival. It is safe, clean and contains antibodies which protect against many common childhood illnesses. However, contrary to WHO recommendations, fewer than half of infants under 6 months old are exclusively breastfed.
SMC EL promoted its progestin-only oral contraceptive pill, Minicon to observe the ‘World Breastfeeding Week 2023' with the slogan ‘Let make breastfeeding and work, work!', SMC EL conducted Minicon campaign on print and digital media and organized a doctors' webinar participated by Dr. Sarabon Tahura, Associate Professor (Pediatric), Dhaka Shishu Hospital and Dr. Sharmin Abbasi, Associate Professor (Gynae & Obs), Anwar Khan Medical College. The discussion focused on the significance and advantages of exclusive breastfeeding for both the mother and child, as well as family planning methods.
